Lord of the Rings - Love details, but sometimes they get in the way. It's just an amazing series. The Belgariad - The BEST series ever, written by David Eddings. Kaleidescope Century - Futuristic time-shifting novel. The Mallorean - Follow-up to the Belgariad. Continues the adventure to save the world. I try to read this every few years. Star Wars - Duh. If you have to ask why, then you and I won't see eye-to-eye. Shannara - Long series with demons and Druids and other fun things. |

Stephen King - Just about anything written by this guy (or early alter ego Richard Backman) merits a read. The standouts that leap to mind are: The Stand, It, Cujo and Thinner. Survivalist - 30 book, post-apocalyptic saga of a man and his family, trying to survive Armageddon over the course of 500 years. |
